Job Summary
Director of Nursing (DON) leads Humphreys County Nursing Home's nursing department, planning, coordinating, organizing, and supervising Nursing Services; ensures chart reviews and documentation within policy timelines; applies knowledge of medical terms, charts, medications, and regulatory requirements; conducts regular staff meetings, policy clarification, and quarterly/periodic quality improvement activities (QI, PI projects, QAPI); oversees HIPAA compliance, staff orientation, and cross-training to ensure at least two competent personnel;Requires College degree or equivalent and Tennessee licensure as a Professional Nurse, CPR certification, and 2+ years in medical/surgical/rehabilitation nursing; strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills; works in a long-term care setting with standard facility schedules and travel as needed.
Required Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
- Licensed Professional Nurse in the State of Tennessee
- CPR Certification
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in medical/surgical, rehabilitation nursing
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people
- Ability to serve as an example to other employees
