Job Summary
Direct the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards to ensure the highest degree of quality care. Develop, maintain, and update written policies and procedures governing day-to-day functions while making reports to the Administrator and Medical Director. Coordinate nursing services with other resident services, maintain a quality assurance program, and participate in facility surveys. Assign sufficient licensed nurses and nursing assistants for each tour of duty, develop work assignments, and make daily rounds to ensure all personnel perform their duties. Monitor medication passes, review nurses' notes, and assist in developing plans of action to correct identified deficiencies. Coordinate continuing education, manage performance evaluations, and report suspected fraud or unauthorized disclosure of resident information.
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility
- Registered Nurse with current unencumbered state license
- Current CPR Certification
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English language
- Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Ability to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
- Ability to meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility, which include a medical and physical examination
