Job Summary

Direct the Nursing Department to plan, organize, develop, direct and delegate operations in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and facility policies, ensuring the highest quality of care. Lead nursing leadership activities, supervise staff, audit charts and EHR, maintain regulatory compliance, oversee admissions and care plans, manage budgets and resources, and participate in ongoing professional development and in-service education.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Illinois and/or Wisconsin
  • Minimum of one year nursing service administration experience
  • Current CPR certificate or ability to obtain within two weeks of employment
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures
  • English-language proficiency (read, write, speak)
  • Ability to make independent decisions when warranted
  • Ability to interact tactfully with customers, family, visitors, personnel, government agencies, and the public
  • Leadership and supervisory ability and teamwork orientation
  • Personable, enthusiastic, resourceful
  • Must be able to move intermittently and cope with stress
  • Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset individuals
  • May be required to lift/move equipment and supplies >50 lbs
  • Exposure to infectious waste/diseases (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis B) as applicable
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and participate in nursing department activities
  • Ensure adherence to nursing procedures and policies
  • Recruit, interview, and select nursing staff
  • Participate in budget planning and control
  • Maintain license validity for nursing personnel
  • Attend department meetings and ongoing education
  • Ensure accurate nursing documentation and chart audits
  • Participate in admissions planning and care conferences
  • Coordinate with physicians and families
  • Submit required forms in a timely manner
  • Monitor medication administration and treatment schedules
  • Ensure quality of care and resident safety
  • Coordinate with quality assurance and infection control
  • Maintain department orientation and training programs
  • Place orders for equipment and supplies within budget
  • Maintain reference materials for nursing staff
  • Review and improve care plans and documentation
  • Oversee staffing and scheduling
  • Complete performance evaluations timely
  • Plan and conduct in-service education programs
  • Assist in hiring and onboarding of nursing staff
  • Attend and contribute to interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
