Job Summary
Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs reaching thousands of children and families annually, including school trips, public offerings, summer camps, and overnight experiences. Lead the Learning Team by supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff while fostering a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement. Advance the museum's vision for playful learning by establishing strategic priorities, integrating goals across departments, and ensuring experiences align with the PLAY Framework and organizational values. Champion inclusive learning by designing accessible programs for diverse audiences, including neurodivergent visitors and English language learners, and actively model facilitation practices on the museum floor. Work a minimum of three weekend days per month with occasional evening and overnight participation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Museum Studies, Arts Education, Child Development, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience developing and delivering educational experiences for children and families in museums, schools, cultural institutions, nonprofits, or related settings
- 3+ years of experience managing the development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs
- 3+ years of experience supervising, coaching, mentoring, or developing staff
- Strong written, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to connect authentically with children, families, staff, and community partners
- Passion for learning through play and child-centered education
- Excellent writing, organizational and scheduling skills
- Minimum of three weekend days per month
- Occasional evening, holiday, special event, and overnight program participation throughout the year
- Regular movement throughout the museum, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing
- Occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education or a related field, or equivalent advanced professional experience
- Experience in museums, informal learning environments, cultural organizations, or youth-serving nonprofits
- Experience designing inclusive programs for diverse audiences is highly valued
