Job Summary
Oversee and optimize daily customs operations across all northern border points of entry, with a primary focus on Nuevo Laredo as the high-volume port of entry. Collaborate closely with warehousing teams, account management, and Center of Excellence leaders to develop operational plans and best practices. Monitor day-to-day operational systems, cross-border workflows, and customs brokerage performance to recommend and implement solutions for continuous improvement. Create and implement new operational policies, standard operating procedures, and internal compliance controls that improve cross-border service and reduce border dwell times. Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with customers, carriers, customs partners, Mexican customs authorities, and port officials. Analyze and interpret key data metrics, compliance KPIs, and operational dashboards to evaluate employee and vendor performance and execute individual performance reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual conversational and professional fluency in both English and Spanish (EN/SP)
- Strong leadership and team management abilities with a proven track record of leading operational teams in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Proven ability to manage operations finances, department budgets, and cost-allocation strategies
- Certified Customs Broker
- In-depth knowledge of diverse business and logistics functions
- Deep understanding of Mexican customs law (Ley Aduanera)
- Understanding of US-Mexico cross-border regulations
- Understanding of international trade compliance
Desired Qualifications
- Proven ability to design, build, and scale operational customs processes from the ground up
- Strong understanding of industry regulations, customs guidelines, CTPAT, OEA, and other international security and compliance frameworks
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of various types of software, such as customer relationship management (CRM), customs management systems, and data analysis software
