Job Summary
Director of Medical Practice, and Faculty position on the Columbus campus leads clinical skills curriculum development, oversees and grades clinical assignments, and coordinates with MUSM Medical Practice Team across Macon and Savannah campuses. The role requires MD/terminal degree, extensive health professions education and clinical experience, leadership in teaching clinical skills, ability to recruit faculty for curriculum overviews, and oversight of written assignments and clinical curricula. The educator will deliver lectures or recruit faculty for curriculum overviews, lead practice sessions, and support remediation of students. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are essential, with experience in ultrasound/POCUS and familiarity with Learning Space/Canvas and PowerPoint for technology-enabled teaching. Selection contingent on a successful background check. In-person requirement at the Columbus, GA campus; interaction with multiple Georgia campuses and alignment with Mercer University’s mission and in-person collaboration emphasis.
Required Qualifications
- Hold a terminal degree (M.D.)
- Experience in health professions education and 10+ years of clinical experience
- Experience with ultrasound and a willingness to learn point of care ultrasound as directed in the curriculum
- Knowledge of computer based teaching applications (i.e. Learning Space, Canvas) and working knowledge of electronic presentation applications (i.e. PowerPoint)
- Provide demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work with members of the academic and clinical community
- Strong service orientation and commitment to teamwork
- Strong organizational skills
