Director of Mechanical Engineering

Job Summary

Manage the Mechanical Department from initial conceptual design to construction close-out, overseeing manpower, equipment, software, and personnel issues. Establish design standards, protocols, and Master Specs while developing formats for calculations and major equipment. Conduct weekly and yearly department evaluations, including time sheet reviews and salary adjustments, to increase productivity. Lead recruitment, training, and development of staff, and coordinate project requirements and scope changes with project managers. Monitor department hours, request overtime when necessary, and ensure all quality control checks are completed across healthcare, education, commercial, and industrial projects.

Required Qualifications

  • BSME/MET/BSAE (or other engineering discipline with applicable experience)
  • Current PE registration
  • 10+ years' experience designing HVAC building systems in technically sophisticated facilities
  • Have experience writing fee proposals
  • Have project management experience running projects
  • Have experience invoicing clients on specific projects
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standards

Desired Qualifications

  • LEED AP certification
  • Commissioning certification
  • Knowledge of building plumbing and fire protection systems
  • REVIT experience
  • Proficient in the use of Trane Trace 700, or Carrier HAP program
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office software packages
