Job Summary

Coordinate the MDS process in accordance with federal and state standards, identifying data integrity weaknesses in medical records and communicating findings. Complete and transmit all CMS approved item sets, issue and deliver denial notices timely, and maintain Medicare meeting minutes per program agreement. Lead discussions at RCCs, schedule interim conferences for condition changes, and review minutes with the rehab manager to maintain communication across nursing and support staff. Ensure appropriate management of residents' Medicare/Insurance benefits and maintain systems to support billed services while fully complying with all applicable laws and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing, college or university
  • RN preferred
  • current, unencumbered license to practice as an RN/LPN in this state
  • ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such an action
  • ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
  • ability to coordinate MDS systems, resident assessment and care plans for each resident timely
  • knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
  • leadership and supervisory ability
  • willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel
  • patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm
  • willingness to handle difficult residents
  • willingness to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices
