Director of Marketing and Communications

Job Summary

Lead strategic marketing and communications plans to increase brand awareness among community stakeholders, clients, funders, and partners. Direct marketing staff and consultants while overseeing project timelines, budgets, and vendor relationships for grant-funded initiatives. Manage administrative duties including credit card reconciliation, invoice processing, and calendar coordination. Develop digital and print collateral, maintain social media accounts, and support fundraising activities through event promotion and Development team partnerships. Collaborate across departments to provide creative input on program services and policy advocacy work.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of related work experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the nonprofit sector
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience
  • BS/BA or equivalent lived or professional experience
  • Impeccable ability to write and edit (writing sample required)
  • Strong understanding of marketing best practices for print and online channels
  • Experience executing large-scale agency pieces such as an Annual Report
  • Excellent skills in communications, project management, and administration, including the ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks, and manage time effectively
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups, independently, and as an effective team member
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Computer competency in word processing, preferably Microsoft Office Suite products, as well as experience with Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Operate related office equipment and use necessary tools
  • Regular keyboarding and computer use
  • Although work is primarily indoors, you will be required to travel to community locations
  • Position may require occasional trips to attend conferences, seminars, and meetings
  • May require working non-traditional hours for evening meetings and weekend events
