Job Summary
Director of Marketing & Business Development at a premier Utah law firm will lead growth, branding, and client-acquisition strategies, partnering with firm leadership and practice chairs to design and execute marketing initiatives, optimize attorney business development, oversee external digital marketing and branding, manage RFPs/pitches, drive thought leadership and media relations, and supervise marketing vendors. The role requires strategic growth planning, budget oversight with ROI analytics, events and sponsorships, and strong leadership across marketing disciplines, CRM/marketing automation, SEO, website strategy, and integrated campaigns to elevate the firm’s market footprint in Utah and the Intermountain West.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field
- 7+ years of marketing and business development experience in a senior capacity
- Experience in law firms or B2B professional services environments preferred
Desired Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive marketing and business development experience in senior management or director-level capacity
- Experience in mid-to-large law firms or corporate/professional services/B2B environments
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field; MBA or JD is a distinct advantage
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and emotional intelligence
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, marketing automation, website analytics, SEO, and digital marketing
- Experience with RFPs, pitches, client presentations, and client-development strategies
- Ability to manage external vendors/agencies and function as primary liaison for marketing-related partnerships
- Experience with events, seminars, webinars, sponsorships, and network-building initiatives
- Strong budget oversight and ROI analytics for marketing programs
- Thought leadership, public relations, and media relations experience
- Digital branding and external brand management experience
- Strategic growth planning and market trend analysis
- Cross-selling and client-development strategy development
- Proven track record of growing engagement and visibility for professional services firms
- Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to supervise and direct external marketing/branding firms
- Knowledge of Intermountain West markets and Utah law firm landscape
- Experience with website infrastructure and social media strategy
- Familiarity with directory rankings and industry awards processes
- Ability to work with firm leadership and practice group chairs to design initiatives
