Job Summary
Director of Legal Engagement & Optimization leads the Firm's attorney staffing, workload optimization, and development alignment across practices and offices. Partners with Business Group Leaders, Attorney Leadership, and Talent teams to ensure optimal deployment of attorney resources for client service, growth, and profitability. Responsibilities include developing staffing policies and governance, analyzing matter pipelines and utilization trends, overseeing workload balance, and translating metrics into actionable recommendations. Collaborates on attorney development, performance management, onboarding and integration, and engagement strategies for non-partner attorneys and paralegals. Plays a key role in the Summer Associate Program, includes coordination of transitions, leaves, visa support, and ensuring clear communication of policies. Requires JD, extensive experience in staffing, practice management or resource optimization, and strong analytical and communication skills; travel as needed; base pay range $200k-$260k with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- JD required
- 12+ years of experience in a law firm or client-centered professional services environment
- deep understanding of law firm economics including utilization, leverage, realization, and attorney life cycle
- strong analytical capability with experience leveraging financial, utilization, and workforce data
- ability to travel as needed
