Job Summary
Director of ISO at Third Street leads the artistic and administrative coordination of the school’s youth orchestra and concert band programs, including auditions, scheduling, repertoire selection, season planning, rehearsals, and performances. The role oversees recruitment and coordination of personnel (conductors, coaches, ensemble staff), coordinates with production staff and venue teams, manages concert cycles and logistics, supports student recruitment and family communications, and contributes to budgeting and long-range planning. Requires collaboration across educators, families, faculty, guest artists, and administrative staff; evening/weekend availability is required. This hybrid, part-time position typically averages 10–20 hours per week depending on the season. A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred, and a minimum of five years of relevant experience in youth orchestra/band contexts is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance, Music Education, Conducting, Arts Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum five years of experience teaching, conducting, or administrating youth orchestra and/or band programs
- Demonstrated experience coordinating concerts, rehearsals, or large ensemble programs
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, guest artists, and administrative staff from diverse backgrounds
- Flexible schedule with availability for evening and weekend rehearsals and performances
- Experience working in a community music school, youth arts organization, or educational setting preferred
