Job Summary
Develop and implement a growth-oriented foundation relations strategy to raise over $2M annually, managing a portfolio of institutional funders through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Lead one foundation relations staff member by coaching and mentoring to strengthen fundraising effectiveness and strategic thinking. Translate complex programmatic insights into compelling grant concepts, proposals, and annual relationship plans while ensuring accurate submission of all reports and budgets. Collaborate with program, finance, and executive leaders to connect organizational priorities with community needs and shape organization-wide narratives. This full-time hybrid role requires a minimum of three days per week in Waltham and demands deep institutional fundraising skills, strong project management ability, and proficiency with fundraising databases.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience
- A strong track record in foundation relations and institutional giving
- Demonstrated success securing five- and six-figure grants
- Exceptional writing skills
- The ability to craft compelling proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports
- Strong strategic thinking
- The ability to translate complex program work into clear cases for support
- Excellent project management skills
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- A highly collaborative, relationship-oriented approach
- The ability to work effectively across teams
- Proficiency with fundraising databases (e.g., Raiser's Edge/Blackbaud)
- Proficiency with prospect research and grants management tools (e.g. Instrumentl)
- Comfort using AI tools to enhance research, writing and productivity
- Sound judgment about the appropriate use of AI tools
- Commitment to the mission and values of JF&CS to serving people of all faiths, backgrounds, cultures, and abilities
