Job Summary
Director of Information & Security (DOIS) leads the university’s cybersecurity strategy, governance, and enterprise technology operations. Responsible for safeguarding systems and data, managing vulnerability and incident response, IAM/MFA, disaster recovery, and compliance with FERPA, HIPAA (where applicable), GLBA, PCI-DSS, and OWASP practices. Oversees infrastructure, cloud environments (Azure/AWS), Microsoft 365, directory services, and governance frameworks; partners with executive leadership, academic departments, and external vendors to ensure secure, scalable technology and institutional alignment. This is an on-site, senior leadership role based at the Irvine, CA campus, requiring regular on-campus presence and collaboration across IT and academic units.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive IT leadership experience with direct responsibility for infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems
- Strong experience managing enterprise networks, cloud infrastructure, endpoint security, and identity management systems
- Working knowledge of web application architecture, API integrations, authentication protocols (SSO, SAML, OAuth)
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, and compliance standards
- Demonstrated experience leading incident response and security remediation efforts
- Experience managing vendors, technology procurement, and operational budgets
- Strong understanding of Microsoft enterprise environments, virtualization platforms, cloud services, and network security architecture
- Excellent leadership, communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability and willingness to work on-site at the Irvine, California campus on a full-time basis
