Job Summary
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of the Lower Nicola Indian Band's human resources strategy, policies, and systems to attract, retain, and develop exceptional talent. Provide expert advice to senior leadership, the Chief, and Council on complex workforce planning, organizational risk, employee relations, and change management. Champion a culturally safe, inclusive workplace while coaching managers on leadership, conflict resolution, and restorative practices. Manage compensation, benefits, and performance systems to ensure fairness and alignment with Indigenous governance principles. Ensure full compliance with employment legislation and occupational health and safety obligations. Build workforce planning tools to anticipate staffing needs and support succession in critical roles. Report to the Executive Director with a focus on strategic advisory and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- CPHR designation
- Master's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, Indigenous Governance, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive human resources leadership experience
- Senior-level responsibility for strategy, employee relations, policy, compensation, workforce planning, and organizational development
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practices, respectful workplace principles, privacy, occupational health and safety, and performance management
- Proven ability to advise executives and senior leaders with sound judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and courage
- Experience developing and updating HR policies, job descriptions, systems, templates, and processes that are practical, fair, and legally sound
- Demonstrated ability to lead culture change, build trust, resolve conflict, and support leaders through sensitive people matters
