Job Summary
Director of Human Resources at Evangel University oversees the HR function including recruitment and onboarding, policy development, employee relations, training and development, payroll and benefits administration (group health, dental, life, disability, retirement plans, FMLA and workers’ compensation), and wage/salary program. Responsibilities include leading HR vision and operations, guiding HR personnel, recommending policy improvements to management, ensuring compliance with federal/state/local employment laws, communicating policy changes, collaborating with managers, conducting exit interviews, consulting with legal counsel as directed, maintaining the HRIS, and participating in committees and special projects. Qualifications require a Bachelor’s degree in HRM/Business Administration or related field with 5+ years HR experience and supervisory experience; Master’s degree preferred; professional certification (SHRM-CP/PHR/SPHR) preferred; familiarity with employment laws and ADP Work Force Now a plus. Location is Springfield, Missouri; full-time, salaried exempt position within Evangel University with travel occasionally for meetings and conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HRM, Business Administration or related field required
- Master’s degree in HRM or Business Administration strongly preferred
- Professional certification (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR) preferred
- A minimum of five years of HR experience required with supervisory experience
- Familiarity with Federal and/or State employment laws and other related legislations is a must
- Experience in employee benefits administration and working in a higher educational institution preferred
- A familiarity with ADP Work Force Now system is a plus
