Director of Housing Operations

Job Summary

Direct daily operations for academic housing serving 5,400 students and managing over $58 million in annual revenue. Establish policy standards, occupancy management strategies, and housing retention forecasts while overseeing renovations for 1.5 million square feet of residential space. Liaise with key campus partners, Student Affairs, and University Police to manage crises, ensure compliance, and maintain safety across the Hilltop campus. Lead two Assistant Directors and 50-75 student employees, making hiring decisions, coaching staff, and implementing inclusive residential environments. Respond to emergencies and work occasional evening, weekend, and August hours. Design and present housing strategies to parents and prospective students while integrating systems to maximize portfolio use.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience
  • Master's Degree
  • Must have administrative and supervisory experience in higher education, especially student housing
  • Familiarity with student housing management systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of organizational, managerial, budgetary, and financial management skills
  • Experience in leading and supervising a diverse group of professional and student employees
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communications skills
  • Understanding of legal and risk management
  • Experience in housing occupancy management
  • Facilities and crisis management
  • Must be computer literate with specific experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software
  • Must have excellent interpersonal & intrapersonal communication
  • ability to work collaboratively with a broad group of stake holders
  • ability to work with a diverse team and campus community
  • Must have knowledge of higher education, and student affairs
  • Commitment to the ideals of community and the integration of academic, Jesuit values and student affairs
  • Ability to integrate systems and processes
  • Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and other needs when they arise
  • Must be able to work the month of August (training and residential building opening)
  • understand and commit to the expectations inherent in an on-call staff member
  • be willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours
  • opening and closing of the fall and spring academic terms on the Hilltop campus
  • Requires the ability to be on-call for 24 hours of duty

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with StarRez housing management system strongly preferred
