Job Summary
Director of Grounds and Landscape Management at Brigham Young University responsible for leadership in grounds operations, landscape maintenance, budgeting, and ensuring a functional outdoor environment aligned with the university's mission.
Required Qualifications
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Bachelor’s in Landscape Management, Horticulture, Business Management or related field
- 10 years of experience in landscape operations or grounds management
- Proven track record of managing teams of 5 or more full-time or ¾-time employees
- Experience overseeing the maintenance of large-scale properties (100–500 acres)
- Broad expertise in landscape maintenance, plant and turf care, irrigation, pesticide application
- Experience with heavy equipment, site work, and stormwater systems
- Strong leadership, budget management, project planning, and supervisory skills
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and safety protocols
- Ability to interpret blueprints and oversee construction site installations
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Landscape Management or Business Administration or comparable degree
- Familiarity with greenhouse operations, floral design, and plant propagation
- Knowledge of recycling operations, sustainability practices, and composting
- Pesticide license and SFMA certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
