Job Summary

Design and drive an outreach strategy with Congress and the executive branch to advance economic policy priorities. Broaden relationships with congressional committees and offices while crafting persuasive materials like talking points, fact sheets, and testimony for policymakers. Serve as the primary liaison to the federal government, spotting opportunities for strategic engagement and leading high-stakes meetings, briefings, and hearing preparations. Keep colleagues informed on legislative developments and proactively communicate across internal and external stakeholders. Mentor staff members and act as a trusted thought partner to leadership on all government affairs matters. Move fast to analyze and respond to breaking news from the Hill and White House in real time.

Required Qualifications

  • relevant experience in government relations
  • legislative work on the Hill
  • congressional affairs work in the executive branch
  • government affairs work at a nonprofit organization
  • experience in preparing witnesses for congressional committee hearings
  • a commitment to creating a just, inclusive, and robust economy that delivers opportunity and dignity to all
  • a strong familiarity with federal economic policymaking institutions (including Congress, executive branch agencies, and the White House)
  • existing government staff relationships and policy coalition networks
  • the ability to write and speak with clarity and persuasion
  • being highly organized and thriving driving work forward under tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • the ability to think creatively and bring an entrepreneurial drive to developing new strategies that secure advocacy wins
  • experience interfacing directly and managing relationships with government officials and senior staff
  • a commitment to creating a just, inclusive, and robust economy that delivers opportunity and dignity to all
