Director of Global Compliance

Job Summary
Lead and oversee export and trade compliance programs globally, obtaining and monitoring licenses, drafting ITAR/TAC/Technology Transfer/Control Plans, and serving as Empowered Official. Collaborate with government agencies and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with EAR/ITAR and international regulations. Classify commodities, manage international shipments, review contracts for export control requirements, and implement export control protocols for foreign visitors to AST facilities. Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years in export compliance or related field; U.S. citizenship for access to export-controlled information.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Business, Engineering, Legal Studies, or related field preferred)
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in export compliance, global trade compliance, or a related field
- Preferred: ITAR Empowered Official or similar regulatory authority role
- Strong knowledge of U.S. export regulations, including EAR and ITAR
- Experience supporting international operations and global compliance programs
- Familiarity with licensing processes, compliance audits, and regulatory reporting
- Experience working in a highly regulated or technical industry
- Soft skills: interpersonal, collaboration, communication, attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving
- Technology stack familiarity with export compliance and trade management systems, licensing and monitoring platforms (BIS SNAP-R; DOS DECCS; DTSA), ERP systems (SAP or similar), MS Office, regulatory research tools, Descartes Visual Compliance
- Ability to work in an office environment and review detailed documentation
- U.S. citizenship required for access to export-controlled information
