Job Summary

Direct and oversee all fleet maintenance and repair operations for 50+ Paratransit buses and contract vehicles, managing a staff of approximately 20 employees. Plan preventive maintenance programs, supervise hiring and disciplinary actions, and coordinate with external vendors for repairs and parts procurement. Manage financial aspects including budgeting, cost control, and compliance with the Transit Asset Management Plan. Utilize fleet management software to track performance, prepare operational reports, and ensure adherence to OSHA, DOT, and governmental procurement regulations. Full-time exempt role with Monday through Friday hours extending into evenings and weekends; starting salary $95,000-$100,000. Requires journey-level mechanic experience and a valid Class C driver's license.

Required Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of experience managing maintenance operations with supervision of seven (7) or more employees
  • Must possess journey-level mechanic experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the financial and accounting aspects of a fleet maintenance operation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels
  • Proficiency with computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Experience interfacing with clients and external stakeholders
  • Technical competence in vehicle repair and preventive maintenance
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management, Asset Works or other Asset Management systems used in fleet operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazardous materials handling, and MSDS/SDS compliance
  • Knowledge of DOT Drug and Alcohol regulations
  • Knowledge of governmental procurement requirements, rules and regulations
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement within six (6) months of hire
  • Must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States in accordance with Department of Homeland Security regulations
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug testing (including marijuana)
  • Must pass fingerprint clearance
  • Must pass a post-job offer physical
