Job Summary

The Director of Financial Aid leads Hamline University's Office of Financial Aid, overseeing federal/state/institutional aid programs, Title IV compliance, aid packaging, scholarships, work-study, and the operational management of Workday Student functionality. This senior role partners with Enrollment Management, Admissions, Registrar, Student Accounts, and campus leadership to optimize packaging models, manage budgets and aid philosophy, and drive enrollment strategy while ensuring accurate disbursement and compliance. Key duties include strategic leadership for aid leveraging, regulatory oversight (FERPA, Title IV), data analysis and reporting to external agencies, managing daily office operations, staff supervision and development, and direct student-family advising on aid eligibility and decision-making. The role requires extensive knowledge of federal/state financial aid policies, strong data interpretation skills, effective communication, and a commitment to equity and student success in aid practice. The position is full-time, exempt, 12-month, with a compensation range of $82,000–$92,000 and a benefits package.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in a college or university financial aid office
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of direct experience with federal and state financial aid regulations, including Title IV compliance
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience managing professional staff
  • Demonstrated experience with financial aid system administration and database packaging of financial aid awards
  • Experience with Workday Financial Aid configuration and annual setup
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to present data to diverse audiences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
  • Ability to communicate regulatory and financial information clearly to students, families, and campus partners
  • Commitment to equity, access, and student success in financial aid practice
