Job Summary
Develop and oversee strategies for full-cycle accounting, payroll, procurement, and IT operations for the Owen Sound Transportation Company. Lead multi-year budgeting, capital planning, and financial reporting to the Board, Ministry of Transportation, and external auditors. Manage five union agreements, benefits, and pension remittances while ensuring compliance with provincial directives and legislation. Direct facility leases, contracts, and maintenance across three ferry operations, and govern IT systems including ERP, cybersecurity, and hardware procurement. Supervise department staff, conduct performance reviews, and maintain accurate financial and procurement records.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education, with a minimum bachelor's degree in an Accounting or related field
- CPA designation
- A minimum 10 years of relevant accounting and finance experience in progressively more responsible position with a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership role (Director, VP, etc.)
- Experience in project management
- PMP designation is an asset
- Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards
- Experience working for a government organization
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, including proficiency in the use of Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP, Oracle, SAGE, Microsoft Dynamics) applications and capabilities
- Hands-on approach with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Good business acumen and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Adaptable and flexible to evolving business needs
- Good understanding of government oversight requirements
