Job Summary
Director of Finance responsible for leading the accounting and financial operations for Envision Education’s Bay Area schools and national consulting arm; oversees payroll and the Accounts Payable Manager, drives budgeting, audits, financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, and grant management; partners with school principals and department heads to provide timely, meaningful financial information and to optimize the use of MIP Fund Accounting; develops and maintains accounting policies and documentation, prepares monthly/quarterly/year-end reports, and supports COO and department heads with ad hoc analyses and presentations; requires extensive nonprofit/public-sector accounting experience and a BA in Accounting (CPA preferred).
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance
- At least 5 years in a supervisory role
- BA or BS in Accounting; CPA preferred
- Non-profit accounting experience required, ideally within the educational sector
- Experience with general ledger account management, account reconciliation, account analysis, cash flow forecasting, balance sheet management, and preparation of financial statements
- Experience with MIP or other ERP software for small to mid-sized organizations
- Discretion handling highly confidential information
- Experience with California charter school revenue, expense and audit issues desirable
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Slack, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
