Job Summary

Own the month-end close process, producing timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP while overseeing standard costing for manufacturing and strict inventory controls. Enforce segregation of duties across AP, AR, and general ledger functions to safeguard assets, and manage daily cash position, bank reconciliations, and credit lines. Lead the annual budgeting cycle, quarterly re-forecasting, and rolling cash flow model to translate raw data into operational narratives for the executive team. Mentor and develop the lean finance team, ensuring smooth daily transaction processing and collaborating with manufacturing and sales leaders to align financial strategy with operational realities. Moderate domestic and international travel (10% to 25%) is required for multi-site operations across Orange City, IA, and Schoolcraft, Mi.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Ten+ years of experience preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-heavy environment
  • Direct experience with cost accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or combination with advanced degree (MBA, DBA)
  • CPA or CMA designation or ability to obtain certification in these areas
  • Advanced proficiency in modern ERP systems
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling software
  • Experienced in ERP conversion and maintenance
  • Hands-on leader who does not consider themselves 'above' the daily details
  • Executive presence to present to the board
  • Ability to negotiate with banking partners
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP
  • Deep understanding of cost accounting
  • Deep understanding of financial modeling principles
  • Ability to synthesize complex financial datasets into clear, actionable executive summaries and operational insights
  • Strong capability to navigate and optimize ERP systems
  • Advanced capability in financial modeling software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage, train, and develop a lean finance team
  • Ability to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • High degree of initiative and proactive thinking
  • Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Ability to streamline financial operations
