Job Summary
Lead a team of engineers supporting Trust & Safety, guiding career development and driving the overall evolution of the group. Partner with AI/ML to set technical strategy for LLM-based auto-moderation systems that detect and act on harmful content at scale. Identify capabilities and tech investments to build a durable foundation for trust, including internal platforms integrated by other engineering teams. Collaborate closely with Product, Policy, Legal, Design, and Ops to deliver critical priorities while maintaining an inclusive, high-accountability team culture. This role requires 5+ years in Trust & Safety and 5+ years in management, including managing managers, with a hybrid in-office requirement of at least 3 days per week in San Francisco.

- Coaching engineers at all levels and career stages, including managers
- Applying sound judgment to ambiguous, high-stakes situations

- Have a track record delivering trust and safety initiatives for a consumer-facing application with user-generated content
- Have experience leading and managing multiple teams of engineers, including managing managers and staff+ engineers
- Have hands-on fluency with AI/ML approaches to content moderation and detection — e.g. LLM-based classifiers, automated flagging/auto-moderation systems
- Have experience partnering with Product and other cross-functional stakeholders to balance short-term deliverables with long-term technology investment
- Have 5+ years of experience in Trust & Safety
- Have 5+ years of management experience, including at least 2 years managing managers
- Full stack experience with 10+ years of systems engineering experience
- Up to date on AI technology for engineering and engaged in applying best practices for yourself and your team
- This role is based in our San Francisco, CA office with a hybrid in-office requirement of at least 3 days per week
