Job Summary
Director of Engineering overseeing all engineering operations in Charlotte, NC, leading engineers and technicians specializing in civil land development, defining engineering goals and strategic initiatives, and serving as the face of engineering in client meetings. Responsibilities include overseeing projects from concept through construction, setting technical direction for designs, conducting technical reviews, ensuring compliance with local/state/federal regulations, and promoting safety and ethics. Collaborates with surveying, construction management, and business development; mentors high-performing teams; travel to project sites as needed. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, a PE license, 8+ years of civil engineering experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role, proficiency in Civil 3D and related design software, and strong communication and organizational skills. Hybrid work option available; location is Charlotte, NC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- PE (Professional Engineer) license
- 8+ years of experience in civil engineering with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proficient in Civil 3D and other design software
- Strong understanding of land development processes including site grading, stormwater, and utility design
- Proven experience managing project teams, budgets, and schedules
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
