Job Summary
Director of Employee Relations lead and advise on complex, cross-school employee matters across Democracy Prep’s network. Responsible for investigations, performance management guidance, corrective action, employee separations, and risk mitigation; partners with school leaders, legal counsel, and People Team to ensure fair, compliant handling of employee issues, coach leaders through difficult conversations and disciplinary actions, design and deliver PD for school leaders, and travel to various school locations to engage with staff. Must be a proactive, detail-oriented strategic HR leader with strong communication skills, policy expertise, and the ability to influence at all levels while upholding organizational values and compliance. Will oversee policy interpretation and implementation, investigations, legal support coordination, and alignment of HR strategies with network goals; travel frequently to support employee experience initiatives and program development across the network.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on employee relations and compliance
- Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Desired Qualifications
- SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
