Job Summary

Directs Emergency Management, Life Safety Systems, and the Radio Communications divisions; develops and maintains budgets for Emergency Management, Life Safety, and Radio Communications; manages Mutual Aid and MOUs with school districts, stakeholder agencies, and the private sector; provides consultation and technical assistance to the district’s Board, administration, partnering districts, emergency managers, first responders, volunteers, and others; develops safety plans for new schools and renovations; ensures compliance with TEC 37.108 across facilities; coordinates district-wide crisis response planning; creates district safety checklists and oversees the Emergency Operations Center during activations; coordinates safety audits and vulnerability assessments; facilitates training for district employees and conducts emergency drills; represents CFISD to responders and regional entities; facilitates after-action reviews and improvement plans; facilitates a safety and security committee; participates in professional development on Chapter 37 and related directives; maintains and enhances emergency response capabilities and related systems (Call Tower, Anonymous Reporting, Visitor Management, metal detectors, radio communications); performs other duties and ensures timely, reliable attendance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum five (5) years of successful administration experience in a public school system or equivalent safety experience in private/public entity
  • Knowledge of Chapter 37 Texas Education Code re school safety
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing emergency and disaster plans
  • Knowledge of federal and state grant programs related to emergency management and school safety
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Ability to analyze data, create charts and graphs, develop reports, and identify priorities
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, emergency services, and the public in a multicultural community
  • Confidentiality and integrity of information
  • Communication with parents, teachers, and administrators
  • Strong oral and written communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Leadership and team coordination
  • Incident Command System Certifications (100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800) and ICS experience preferred
