Job Summary
Director of Early Childhood Education for Homes for the Homeless in the Soundview area of the Bronx. Manage a team (Head Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Daycare Helper, Enrollment Specialist) and oversee a classroom of up to twenty children age 2-5 when needed. Lead staff recruitment, enrollment efforts, and curriculum development with the Head Teacher. Coordinate with administration on child and family progress, staff training, and background clearances; provide reports to agency administrators and funders; liaise with DOE, DOH, and ACS. Requires NYS Teaching Certification and a Master’s or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, plus at least two years of lead-teacher experience and supervisory experience; ability to lift 40+ pounds; willingness to undergo multi-phase background checks. Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Current NYS Teaching Certification
- At least two years of lead teacher experience in a program for children less than six years of age
- Demonstrated supervisory experience
- Must be willing to consent to a multi-phase criminal background check
- Ability to lift 40 or more pounds
- Ability to sit on the floor, bend down, and pick up children throughout an eight-hour shift
