Job Summary
Director of Distribution Center Operations leads a high-volume automated distribution center in Kentucky, overseeing overall DC operation, organizational development, productivity improvements, financial goals, staff management, and compliance with laws. Responsibilities include setting objectives and approaches for operations, ensuring timely and safe merchandise delivery to stores, establishing and meeting productivity and quality goals, short- and long-term planning and budgeting, monitoring productivity and safety metrics, staffing and development, disciplinary actions when needed, and maintaining facilities and equipment. Requires rapid, independent decision-making, problem-solving, and accountability for results; requires strong leadership, analytical capabilities, and proficiency with warehouse management systems and MS Office; duties also involve coordination with senior leadership and special projects to implement best practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or logistics preferred
- Eight (8) years of distribution center management and operations experience, or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures
- Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to assess, manage, train, mentor, and develop talent
- Experience with warehouse management systems (AS400) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
