Job Summary
Director of Dispatching leads a team of Train Dispatchers to execute the Daily Operating Plan across assigned territories, ensuring safety, on-time performance, and efficient utilization of resources. Responsibilities include conducting safety discussions and audits, maintaining qualifications for rules/standards (GCOR, OTS, HazMat), overseeing the operating plan, tracking delays and performance, coordinating with third-party carriers, documenting incidents, managing emergency response and derailment checklists, monitoring crew lineup, ensuring compliance with collective agreements, and driving continuous improvement in safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics. The role requires leadership, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to oversee multiple systems (NEXUS, TRAM, CTC, CMA, Crew Balancer). Education prerequisite is High School/GED, with a background in railway operations and a track record of leadership in a safety-critical environment. Pre-employment medical, background checks, and related screenings are required. Location: Spring, Texas, USA. This is a Full-Time, non-union role with 0-10% travel.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduation or General Equivalency required
- 5 years of railway experience and/or strong transportation industry-based knowledge
- 2 years' experience in a Railway Dispatching Center
- Ability to cope with stress
- Strong leadership skills
- ability to engage unionized staff as well as influence leaders
