Job Summary
Director of Development leads strategy and operations for fundraising at Food Bank of Northern Nevada, supervising Donor Services and Insights Manager and two Gift Officers, designing and implementing fundraising plans, managing a 30-50 donor portfolio (major and mid-level donors), collaborating with the Chief Philanthropy Officer, and ensuring donor stewardship, data integrity, and performance reporting. The role balances development strategy (~40%), team management (~30%), and donor portfolio management (~30%), with travel within the service area, occasional evenings/weekends, and high engagement with donors and stakeholders. Strong leadership, relationship-building, and ethical fundraising practices are essential, along with experience using donor CRM systems and moves management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business administration, or related field required
- Experience supervising and coaching professional fundraisers and leading teams and team members to achieve goals
- Experience managing donor relationships and fundraising portfolios (1M-3M)
- Experience using donor CRM systems and fundraising reporting tools
- Experience coordinating multiple fundraising projects and priorities simultaneously
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience
- Strong relationship-building and donor stewardship skills
- Proven track record securing and stewarding major gifts
- Ability to analyze fundraising performance data and donor trends
- Experience supporting fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, and annual giving initiatives
- CFRE certification preferred or willingness to pursue certification within 1 year
