Job Summary
Director of Development to lead fundraising for Sequoia Living’s Community Services Programs and Life Plan Communities. Responsibilities include cultivating major gifts (portfolio of 50-75 individuals), managing annual appeals and donor recognition programs, educating donors about CRTs and planned giving, co-leading annual appeals with the VP of Philanthropy, maintaining donor databases and reporting, developing online giving campaigns, collaborating with Marketing and Communications, and coordinating with vendors. Requires extensive fundraising experience, strong communication and relationship-building skills, proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Raiser’s Edge NXT) and online fundraising platforms, and the ability to work in a hybrid environment. Bachelor’s degree required; CFRE certification or pursuit preferred; 5-7 years nonprofit fundraising experience; valid California driver license and willingness to travel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in English, Communications, or related field
- Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) certification or pursuing certification
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising and development, with demonstrated success in donor cultivation, appeals management, and database administration, preferably in the aging services sector
- CFRE certification preferred
- California driver license, proof of insurance, clean driving record, and ability to travel to multiple locations for donor relationship building, events, and outings
