Job Summary
Director of Design & Engineering leads the Design and Engineering Department for a precast construction environment. Responsible for overseeing workflow with Drafting & Engineering Managers, staff staffing recommendations, staff performance and compensation reviews, coordinating with Sales and Project Management on incoming and ongoing projects, formalizing outsourced firm agreements, maintaining the Standard Practices Manual with the Technology Integration team, resolving conflicts with contractors/owners, attending progress meetings with architects/engineers/contractors/owners, monitoring production schedules, interpreting construction documents, utilizing AutoCAD and Revit, managing submittal drawing schedules, collaborating on departmental budgets and project costs, leading and developing the team, and partnering with Talent Acquisition to recruit talent; requires travel and adaptability to achieve Best in Class status.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years in precast industry
- Ability to train and mentor employees
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and drafting (Revit) and engineering (Eriksson) software
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays
- Read and interpret construction documents
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the precast industry
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other engineering/drafting software (Eriksson mentioned)
- Experience in staff leadership, budgeting, and coordinating with Sales/Project Management
- Willingness to travel including overnight stays
