Job Summary
Lead and oversee the department of exceptional learning for students ages 3–21 in the Liberty County School System; provide leadership and operational oversight for program administration, IEP processes, and compliance with federal/state/local special education laws; coordinate budgeting, purchasing, and training for teachers and support staff; manage data reporting (including GAA and GADOE requirements), assist in SLPs/psychologists' activities, oversee assistive-technology resources, coordinate 504 meetings and SSTs, and facilitate IEP meetings and related tribunals; maintain student records and inventories, ensure accountability, and support continuity of services through a centralized leadership role.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in a special education related field from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching or administration in a special education related position within a public school setting in Georgia
- Hold or be eligible for a valid Professional Standards Commission approved certificate Educational Leadership or in a special education related field
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local special education administrative laws, rules, and regulations; familiarity with current trends and best practices in special education practices and procedures
