Director of Costing Accounting

Job Summary
Direct the cost accounting function across manufacturing, infrastructure, and AI compute operations, leading all cost accounting, inventory, and related activities to ensure accurate costing, capitalization, and cost transparency across training and inference workloads. Design and implement scalable costing models, own month-end/quarter-end closes for cost accounting and inventory, manage cost allocations to products/services/programs, oversee inventory valuation and manufacturing accruals, and ensure SOX-compliant controls. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, FP&A, Deployment, and Engineering to support IPO readiness, external reporting, and unit economics. Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to analyze BOMs, yields, labor, overhead, and supplier pricing; develop budgets and headcount models; manage data center fixed assets and depreciation; develop inference cost allocations and allocate costs across internal R&D, customer contracts, and commercial programs; ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and internal policies; support SEC reporting and auditor analyses; provide cross-functional leadership and hands-on execution in a fast-growth environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 10+ years of progressive cost accounting experience in manufacturing, hardware, or infrastructure-intensive environments
- CPA or CMA strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, inventory accounting, costing methodologies, and fixed assets
- Experience with complex allocations and capital-intensive cost structures
- Exposure to manufacturing systems and ERPs such as Oracle and NetSuite
