Director of Construction - Critical Facilities COLO Provider

Job Summary
Lead data center critical facilities construction projects in the Virginia/Carolinas region from pre-construction through turnover, owning all phases of delivery, budgeting, scheduling, and safety. Serve as primary interface with contractors, consultants, and vendors; manage budgets $200MM+ and procurement activities including RFP development, evaluation, and award. Communicate confidently with customers and internal stakeholders; develop and delegate RFPs, negotiate contracts, supervise scope and quality, track costs and critical-path milestones, ensure turnover readiness and operations handover, and maintain compliance with local/state/federal regulations. Maintain strong leadership, collaboration, and teamwork; engage with professional organizations (AFCOM, ASHRAE, 7x24 Exchange, PTC, Datacenter Dynamics / DCD, Uptime, iMasons, Bisnow) and leverage a broad network in the mission-critical data center facilities market. Willingness to travel ~20%. Qualifications emphasize strategic planning, project controls, VDC, and proficiency with tools like MS Project/SharePoint, Bluebeam, and related software.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- 8-10+ years of experience in construction management, with a focus on complex greenfield data center delivery or critical facilities projects as a general contractor / GC, Engineering Firm, Developer, or End User
- experience with bid processes, RFPs, RFIs, drafting agreements, reviewing contracts
