Job Summary
Director of Construction leading development and construction activities for Argus Properties’ Kelowna-based portfolio. Oversees a multi-disciplinary team including two project managers and a construction crew, coordinating office, industrial, retail, residential and hospitality developments. Responsible for strategic input on development and building renovations, ensuring milestones and budgets are met, managing scope, cost, schedule, staffing, and third-party contractors, and ensuring regulatory compliance with building permits and codes. Works with architects, engineers and city inspectors, prepares project status reports and cost estimates, resolves issues, and supports ongoing development opportunities and investor relations. This is a senior leadership role focused on large-scale real estate development and construction within a long-established organization.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years’ experience in construction and real estate development, design and construction related projects
- 10+ years’ managerial experience
- Experience in the construction of industrial, office, retail, hotel and multi-family residential projects is essential
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral; communicating with employees and third-party service providers, writing proposals, procuring materials and dealing with clients
- Knowledge of construction methodologies, able to read blueprints and understand other technical aspects of construction
