Director of Compliance

Job Summary

Evaluate agency requirements and implement compliance procedures for all properties in the portfolio. Oversee the Compliance Team, field inquiries regarding income eligibility, legal rents, and property-specific rules, and ensure all files meet HUD and LIHTC standards. Conduct site visits to review resident files, perform audits to identify documentation errors, and coordinate annual rent adjustments. Process LIHTC certifications and re-certifications in a timely manner, prepare for state and regulatory agency audits, and provide training to property management and program staff. Build relationships with funding agencies and stay abreast of changing affordable housing laws to facilitate company-wide updates.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of LIHTC regulations and project-based Section 8/Tax Credit residential properties
  • Well-developed administrative skills

  • Experienced working with multiple types of service programs
  • Exhibit good judgment, practical day-to-day experience working with a diverse group of people, and hardworking
  • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
  • Previous experience in a confidential administrative role with the ability to work well independently and ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Valid NYS Driver's License
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • At least two years of administrative experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and internet usage
  • Must be able to travel to different locations for this assignment

Desired Qualifications

  • TaCCs, COS, HCCP, SHCM or other widely-known affordable housing compliance certifications preferred
  • Experience in affordable and/or public housing, specifically maintaining compliance of LIHTC program preferred
