Job Summary
The Director of Clinical Medicine supervises clinical medicine and pathology for DZCA’s animals, overseeing Clinical Veterinarians and a Veterinary Pathologist. Key responsibilities include developing clinical policies, managing cases, and administering the preventative medicine program. This role requires strong expertise in zoological medicine, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to foster collaboration across teams. Candidates should hold a veterinary degree and possess significant experience in the field, including management of complex teams.
Required Qualifications
- DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary college
- Minimum of 7 years experience as a veterinarian
- At least 5 years experience with zoological species, leadership and team supervision
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of an ACZM-compliant zoological medicine residency program (preferred)
- Background in scientific research methods and study design with record of scientific publication
- Experience developing and executing strategic goals preferred
- Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Tracks software or other zoological medical record keeping systems
