Job Summary
Director of Client Engineering responsible for frontend health and delivery of Tide’s mobile and web applications. Lead and partner with Engineering Managers and Staff Engineers across Core Architecture, Engineering Productivity, and Quality Engineering to ensure a performant, maintainable frontend stack aligned with commercial goals. Drive architectural advocacy, technical stewardship, and efficiency improvements across large-scale monorepo workflows, deliver modern release engineering with high-frequency deployments, and explore AI-driven enhancements to the client-side experience. Stack includes Flutter/Dart for mobile and Angular for web, with Java/Spring Boot backend, Kubernetes/AWS, and supporting tools (Kafka, DataDog, LaunchDarkly, GitHub Actions). Emphasizes frontend pragmatism, system-thinking to boost team velocity, and a balance between in-person and remote collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Seasoned leadership experience
- Experience leading significant engineering organizations
- Strong frontend architecture knowledge
- Track record of improving efficiency and modernising release cycles
- Experienced with frontend stack Flutter/Dart and Angular; Backend Java/Spring Boot
- Experience with monorepos, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling
- Ability to communicate trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Commercial maturity and alignment of technical strategy with business goals
