Job Summary

Oversee daily operations of classroom sites at the E. John Gavras Center, directly supervising all teachers, staff, and clinical personnel. Develop and monitor a comprehensive curriculum meeting NYS PS Learning Standards while administering standardized assessments for staff evaluations. Collaborate with agency staff to ensure compliance with NYS, local, and Federal regulations, and act as a NYS Mandated Reporter. Mentor teachers on behavior management for children with disabilities, guide staff through annual reviews, and coordinate regular meetings for teachers, paraprofessionals, and therapy sessions. Manage classroom enrollments for special needs and private pay students, work with school districts on enrollment, and handle emergency health situations. Recruit, interview, and hire staff as needed, requisition supplies, and schedule parent visits. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and attend CPSE meetings or appoint a designee.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education with Birth-2 Special Education Certification
  • Master's Degree with a NYS Clinical Certification
  • School Administration Certification
  • Experience with young children with developmental delays
  • Five years of experience working with children with disabilities
  • Experience to mentor and coach teachers to assist with behavior management needs and with a high level of performance
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Valid NYS driver's license
  • Must have demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance
  • Strong Leadership Skills
  • Effective Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Effective Classroom Management Skills with emphasis on behavior management for children with Behavior Management needs
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to facilitate group meetings
  • Ability to set priorities and adapt to change
  • Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to push/pull objects up 100 pounds

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Education with Birth-2 Special Education Certification (preferred)
  • Master's Degree with a NYS Clinical Certification (preferred)
