Job Summary

The Greenbrier School District is seeking a Director of Child Nutrition who will provide strategic leadership, management, and oversight for district-wide child nutrition operations serving approximately 3,700 students across seven campuses and a PreK program through six production kitchens. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with USDA and state regulations, overseeing menu planning, HACCP food safety plans, inventory, procurement, financial management, and personnel supervision; guiding program operations, continuous improvement, and collaboration with district administrators, vendors, and community partners; and leading staffing, training, audits, and reporting to support nutritious, high-quality, cost-effective meals. The role requires an Associate’s degree (or equivalent) with nutrition/food service emphasis (Bachelor’s preferred), at least two years of relevant school nutrition experience, USDA Professional Standards familiarity, and the ability to travel between district campuses.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent educational experience in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant school nutrition program experience as required by USDA Professional Standards for School Nutrition Directors in districts with student enrollment between 2,500 and 9,999
  • Completion of at least eight (8) hours of food safety training within five (5) years prior to employment or within thirty (30) calendar days of employment as required by USDA Professional Standards
  • Demonstrated knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs (National School Lunch, School Breakfast, After School Snack, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program) and related federal/state requirements
  • Ability to lead strategic planning, operations, financial management, personnel supervision, program compliance, and continuous improvement for district child nutrition programs
  • Experience with HACCP, food safety, sanitation, health inspections, and required program reporting
  • Experience with procurement, inventory, budgeting, meal pricing, and vendor management
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to travel between district campuses
