Job Summary
Director of Catering responsible for all aspects of catering sales and management, including development, planning, and performance of all sales duties related to catering. Will negotiate and close sales to maximize space and exceed catering goals, listen to guests’ needs, analyze information, and create custom proposals that exceed expectations. Establish and maintain client relationships, review contracts, generate new catering business, pursue larger accounts, conduct site tours, coordinate with operations, and serve as ambassador for the company. Leads a team within the department, hiring, training, and ensuring service excellence, with emphasis on attention to detail, organization, and effective communication.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven selling, negotiating, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Knowledge of advanced sales techniques
- Highly developed customer service skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to delegate, effectively train, and coach employees
- Leadership and supervisory capabilities
