Job Summary
Director of Building and Facilities responsible for safety and security of GBFB staff and equipment, maintaining the 117,000-square-foot facility with LEED Silver and AIB certifications, and overseeing strategic planning, program development, routine maintenance, compliance, budgeting (annual budget around $3M and capital expenditures up to $1M), and contract management for building systems (HVAC/refrigeration, life safety, electrical and alarm systems). Leads a facilities team, maintains technical documentation, and supports network-wide distribution of food in Eastern Massachusetts. Requires Serv Safe and Food Defense Coordinator certification; bachelor’s degree or 10+ years facility-management experience; strong leadership, organizational, and customer-service skills; willingness to operate material handling equipment and pass background checks. This is an on-site, full-time role with no hybrid remote arrangement.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or over 10 years of experience in facility management within a fast-paced environment, along with proven skills in people management
- Obtaining Serv Safe® and Food Defense Coordinator certification is a requirement
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including conflict management, coaching, mentoring, team building, and collaboration
- Experience building and fostering relationships across business functions
- Ability to operate and obtain certification for material handling equipment
- Digital competency, including demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to produce a driving record and pass a pre-employment background check and drug test
