Job Summary
Director of Architecture and Design leads architectural and interior design for Intuitive Health's national portfolio of Freestanding Emergency Department and Urgent Care facilities, guiding site plans, schematics, and working with health system partners through design development, entitlements, and construction documents. Oversees in-house designers and external A&E resources, maintains design standards aligned with brand, operations, and clinical requirements, and drives scalable, repeatable design solutions. Responsible for team leadership, cross-functional collaboration with Construction, Real Estate, Clinic Operations, Lab Operations, and Implementations, budget planning, regulatory compliance (state healthcare facility licensing, ADA, NFPA, AHJ, NFPA, and FGI Guidelines), and vendor management with external vendors (A&E) while delivering high-quality patient-centered environments across multiple markets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture/Design from an accredited institution
- 15+ years of progressive experience in a fast-paced, multi-site design, construction, or remodeling environment — such as healthcare, medical office, or similar commercial development programs
- Track Record: Demonstrated history of creative, innovative design and successful execution across a national or multi-market portfolio
- Leadership: Proven experience recruiting, leading, and scaling design teams, and managing operational aspects of an end-to-end design function
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, including hand-drafting and sketching for on-the-spot discussions with clients, partners, and project teams
- Judgment: Ability to think through complex issues and provide sound recommendations and solutions under tight timelines
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time
