Job Summary
Own and coordinate Pivotal Health's government affairs workstreams, including leading calls, setting agendas, and tracking commitments. Engage directly with federal agencies, members of Congress, and congressional staff on healthcare programs and policy. Read and synthesize economic and epidemiological research to identify key findings, spot weaknesses, and initiate new research projects. Develop clear points of view on policy issues and advocate for them by persuading stakeholders. Lead calls and coordinate with doctors, lawyers, CEOs, and CFOs in group settings. Partner with the General Counsel and Chief Government Affairs Officer to build the function's processes and priorities from the ground up. Help shift the government affairs function from reactive work toward proactive, strategic engagement.
Required Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field
- Federal-level government affairs or public policy experience, including direct work with federal agencies and healthcare policy
- Direct experience engaging members of Congress or congressional staff
- A track record of developing and advocating for a clear point of view
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with comfort leading meetings across varied seniority levels
- Ability to read, evaluate, and compare the strength of economic and epidemiological research
- Comfort operating with ambiguity, building structure and process from a blank slate, and taking on hands-on tactical work alongside strategic thinking
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with the No Surprises Act or the IDR process
- Experience involving HHS, CMS, Medicare, or Medicaid
- Prior lobbying experience
