Job Summary
Director of Academic Advising at Marian University leads developmental advising across the university, coordinating advising practices, advising a cohort of exploratory or undecided students, designing and facilitating advisor training, supporting faculty and professional advisors, advancing advising strategy and consistency, and coordinating student engagement initiatives. The role partners with the Registrar and Student Success & Engagement to strengthen advising systems, supports four-year academic planning, uses institutional data to assess effectiveness and drive continuous improvement, and aligns with Marian University’s Catholic Franciscan mission. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated leadership in advising-related activities, with a focus on student success, retention, and engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated success in collegiate athletic communications, sports information, sports marketing, or a related field.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising staff and managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in industry-standard platforms and tools (e.g., Stat Crew/PrestoStats/Genius, Adobe Creative Suite, web CMS, and live streaming technologies).
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Understanding of emerging trends in digital media, social media strategy, and content creation within collegiate athletics.
- Ability to manage budgets and operate effectively within institutional resources.
