Job Summary
Director of Admissions and Enrollment, Upper Division at Avenues NYC leads the admissions, enrollment, and marketing team to enroll well-qualified students and families. Responsibilities include directing recruitment plans, overseeing inquiry nurture, events, application review, yield, onboarding, retention, and collaboration with marketing. Manages a team of admissions and enrollment professionals, chairs admissions and participates in financial aid discussions, ensures high-quality recruitment events, communicates the unique value of the Avenues education, builds relationships with feeder schools and educational consultants, and uses data to drive enrollment decisions. Requires deep independent school admissions experience, leadership, strong communication, and a data-driven, student-family-centric approach; Mandarin or Spanish preferred; in-person availability 4-5 days/week during school hours with some evenings/weekends.
Required Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of related professional experience in independent school admissions
- successful leadership managing a team
- track record of achieving and exceeding enrollment goals
- exceptional written and oral communication skills
- ability to guide families from inquiry through admission and enrollment
- experience with data and enrollment analytics
- availability to work in person 4-5 days per week during school hours; nights/weekends as needed
- fluency in Mandarin or Spanish is preferred but not required
- experience with financial aid
- experience assessing middle and high school students through holistic admissions
- distributive leadership and collaboration with academic colleagues and stakeholders
